Sustainability in production isn’t a trend—it’s a responsibility. At ORVANE, our journey toward more sustainable filmmaking began with a simple realization: every creative decision has an impact. From our energy consumption to our materials, from our travel footprint to our waste on set, every choice contributes to the world we leave behind.
The shift didn’t happen overnight. It started with small adjustments—reusable materials, energy-efficient lighting setups, and reduced single-use plastics during shoots. What seemed minor at first quickly added up. The studio began to notice tangible benefits, not only in reduced waste but in heightened awareness among the team. Being mindful changed how we approached everything.
As we dug deeper, we expanded our sustainable efforts into pre-production planning. Now we consider location strategies that minimize travel, encourage digital-first workflows, and prioritize local talent and vendors. These changes haven’t just lowered our footprint—they’ve expanded the creative toolbox. Constraints, we’ve learned, can be catalysts for innovation.

One of the most transformative steps has been partnering with environmental consultants to evaluate the carbon impact of our larger productions. Their guidance helped us establish new guidelines for green sets, eco-conscious equipment rentals, and responsible disposal of materials. The studio now conducts a sustainability review after major projects, allowing us to learn and improve with every production.
Moving toward sustainable production is an evolving process, not a finished one. We still have much to learn, but each step brings us closer to aligning our craft with our values. At ORVANE, we believe the stories we create should honor the world they are filmed in. And so, sustainability is now woven into our decisions—not as an obligation, but as an essential part of how we create.
